Frequently Asked Questions
How long do you keep our wedding on file?
|
The short answer is, digital. We use digital for several reasons the first is that production cost is lower so you see the savings. The second reason is control. I have complete control over development so the prints you get back look just how you wanted them. The third reason is speed: You get your pictures back much faster (usually 2-3 weeks for the initial proof book instead of 2-3 months).
I have done research paper after research paper on this subject and the answer is: it depends. Digital is a slightly different art form. That is the key, DIFFERENT. Better or worse depends largely upon the level of mastery of either medium. I am a master of the digital medium. I like to have complete control over the development process. That is why I shoot in RAW and why I take the time to develop and correct each image myself. It takes more of my time, but the end result is an image exactly the way it was intended to be.

RAW is essentially the digital equivalent of a negative. It is a file type that remains unprocessed and unaltered. It matches pixel for pixel exactly what the camera sees. It allows for much higher quality and much more control over the final image. It requires a special graphic editing program, like Photoshop, to even view it.
Our work is our art and we own the copyrights to any picture we take, but we do offer a CD buyout that allows you to print how and where you like; however we do not claim responsibility for the quality of any image you try to print on your own. We do not use film, but CD Buyout is available. A CD(s) with all of the unmarked, full-resolution JPEG images is $800. A CD(s) of all of the RAW files from the wedding can be purchased for $1100.
How long do you keep our wedding on file? Ultimately the answer is, indefinitely. The preferred time to order prints is up to 3 months after you receive your proofs; however, should you decide 3 or 4 years down the road that you want another print made, you can. We archive all of your wedding files in their original RAW format on at least 2 copies of DVDs and store them in our fire-safe.
